IPL 2026 fantasy is not just about picking your favourite players and hoping for the best. Every run, every wicket, every direct hit throw follows a specific points rule, and the players who know these rules inside out are the ones sitting at the top of their private leagues come May. Whether you are a first-timer or a returning fantasy veteran, this is the one guide you need to bookmark before the next match kicks off.
Batting Points (Base and Bonus)
Batting is often the safest way to build a high score. Every run counts, but the big points come from boundaries and staying at the crease.
- Standard Run: +1 point
- Boundary Bonus (Four): +1 point
- Six Bonus: +2 points
- Half Century (50 runs): +8 points
- Century (100 runs): +16 points
- Duck Penalty: -2 points (Applies to everyone except designated Bowlers)
Bowling Points (The Game Changers)
Wickets are the fastest way to jump up the leaderboard. A single wicket is worth more than two dozen runs.
- Wicket (Excluding Run Out): +25 points
- Bonus for Bowled or LBW: +8 points
- 3 Wicket Haul: +4 points
- 4 Wicket Haul: +8 points
- 5 Wicket Haul: +16 points
- Maiden Over: +12 points
Fielding Points
Do not ignore great fielders like Jadeja or Kohli. These small points add up over a full match.
- Catch: +8 points
- 3 Catch Bonus: +4 points
- Stumping: +12 points
- Run Out (Direct Hit): +12 points
- Run Out (Not Direct Hit): +6 points each for both involved players
Strike Rate and Economy Rate
These points only apply after a player has performed a minimum amount of work.
Batting Strike Rate (Minimum 10 balls faced):
- Above 170 runs per 100 balls: +6 points
- Between 150.01 and 170: +4 points
- Between 130 and 150: +2 points
- Below 60 runs per 100 balls: -6 points
Bowling Economy Rate (Minimum 2 overs bowled):
- Under 5 runs per over: +6 points
- Between 5 and 5.99: +4 points
- Between 6 and 7: +2 points
- Above 11 runs per over: -6 points
Specialized 2026 Boosters
This year, the “Season Long Fantasy” allows you to use special powers. Use these strategically!
- Triple Captain: Your Captain gets 3x points instead of the usual 2x.
- Double Points: Your entire team earns 2x points for one specific match.
- Indian Warrior: Every Indian player in your team earns 2x points for that match.
- Power Batter/Bowler: All batters or all bowlers in your team get 2x points.
Important Rules to Remember
The Impact Player: If a player is substituted in, they start scoring from that moment. If your player is subbed out, they keep the points they already earned but cannot gain more.
- Captain (C): 2x Points.
- Vice Captain (VC): 1.5x Points.
- Starting XI: Every player in the starting XI gets +4 points just for being selected.
Strategy for Success
In the 2026 format, “All Rounders” are your best friends. A player who bats in the top order and bowls at least two overs gives you two chances to hit those 25 point wickets and 50 run bonuses. Also, pay close attention to the pitch. If it is a spinning track in Chennai, load up on spinners who get the +8 “Bowled/LBW” bonus frequently.
Keep an eye on the toss and use your transfers wisely. Good luck, Captain
